On June 10, 2009, the Transportation Policy Committee of the California Energy Commission will conduct a workshop regarding the Energy Commission Fuel Efficient Tire Program. This workshop will discuss and receive input from members of the public and interested parties about the Energy Commission efforts to develop and implement a comprehensive fuel efficient tire program. The workshop is divided into two sessions. The Committee will preside during the first session of the workshop, consisting of a presentation and discussion of the staff draft proposal for Phase I of the program:
• Scope, • Test protocol, • Determining tire efficiency, • Rating system for tire efficiency, • Tire manufacturer reporting requirements, • Regulations governing the program.
The second session will have opportunity for staff and the other workshop participants to engage in more detailed discussion of the program components as well as the specific language of the staff draft regulations. The Committee may or may not participate in this session of the workshop, but encourages those interested in this program to offer their comments and suggestions for improving the draft regulatory language.
