The WASHINGTON (AP) reported on May 12, 2009 that Chuck Hurley has withdrawn his name from nomination to oversee NHTSA. And in an article published today in the the National Journal, it was reported that Hurley said he withdrew because he was getting opposition from the environmental community, who did not like his previous statements about the impact of raising the CAFE standards on safety.
