On April 17, 2009, in response to the Supreme Court’s April 2, 2007 decision, the EPA announced that it is proposing to find that GHGs in the atmosphere threaten the public health and welfare of current and future generations. EPA also announced that it is proposing to find that GHG emissions from new motor vehicles and new motor vehicle engines are contributing to the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Comments on the proposed findings will be due 60 days following the notice being published in the Federal Register.
