A Maryland Highway Department Task Force has issued a report recommending that the Maryland General Assembly adopt a resolution encouraging the state’s congressional delegation to support federal legislation directing the USDOT to study and establish a motor vehicle safety standard that provides for a means of alerting blind and other pedestrians of motor vehicle operation. The report also recommends that the Governor of Maryland should write a letter to the U.S. Secretary of Transportation requesting that NHTSA study and prescribe a motor vehicle safety standard that provides for a means of alerting blind and other pedestrians of motor vehicle operation.
